Unforgettable Trip to Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer | Image Resource : rajasthan.gov.in

Recently, I had to visit Jaisalmer for some business meeting and my better half insisted on coming along since it is a beautiful place. I was also keen, since we had not visited this place before. So, it was like a blessing in disguise. I have always liked train journeys as they bring back memories of childhood. We spent a relaxed, quality time with each other and remembered good old days.

According to the train timetable the Howrah Junction Jaisalmer Express 12371 departs from Howrah at 8:15 AM on Monday and reaches Gurgaon railway station at around 11:30 am. We boarded the train on time and reached Jaisalmer at 11:50 PM on Tuesday. The things that I liked about the Howrah-Jaisalmer Express were:

  • Both non-veg and vegetarian food options were available.
  • We opted for the non-vegetarian meal and were satisfied with the quality of the food served.
  • The AC-2 tier were very well maintained.
  • I especially want to mention the courteous staff.

Hotel Rang Mahal, Jaisalmer

After reaching Jaisalmer Junction, we reached Hotel Rang Mahal by cab. On the way to the hotel, we saw the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort though view was unclear due to night. The ride to the Hotel Rang Mahal, Jaisalmer from the railway station was very short. It is located at just 3.5 kms from the railway station. We checked in the hotel and took rest because of the long tiring journey. Once we were up in the morning, we decided to go out and see the magnificent architecture of the hotel.

This hotel is primarily designed to provided a medieval experience to all the guests; the entire hotel looks like a fort. Starting from the yellow colored stones used to decorate the exterior portion to the finely designed carvings made out of stone, each component of the hotel has the exotic style of Jaisalmer written all over it.

Since I had to attend the advertising campaign meeting, which was in the hotel’s conference hall itself, I had the breakfast by 9 am . The breakfast menu was elaborate and had some traditional Jaisalmer’s dishes in it. The preparation was excellent.

Hotel In Jaisalmer

Hotel In Jaisalmer

Worth mentioning are the four restaurants at Hotel Rang Mahal:

  • HAVELI: A restaurant that reflects the culture of Rajasthan, it serves various cuisines.
  • RAJ-MAHAL: A multi-cuisine Restaurant with buffet setup.
  • POOL BAR: A place to relax with a drink or coffee.
  • FRESCO – CAFÉ: Here you can enjoy cakes, pastries & more prepared by expert chefs

Other things about the hotel that impressed me were:

  • The front office staff is very polite and helpful.
  • The rooms are very spacious with luxurious interiors
  • Apart from all basic amenities, they also provide electronic safes and 24-hour in-room dining, etc.
  • The pool is very beautiful. Guests can laze around the poolside or take a dip.
  • Spa, gymnasium and conference hall is also there.
  • Extravagant International, Indian and Rajasthani Cuisine
  • They offer the variety of Spa options.

Delhi

Delhi | Image Resource: youtube.com

I am generally quite caught up with my busy work schedule and hence, I needed a break for long. I got an invite for a close friend’s anniversary party in Delhi recently, so I was quite excited to attend it to be part of my friend’s happiness and also catch up with my group. So I planned my trip and packed by bags for my visit to the capital city of India.

The very first thing that I checked was the flight ticket availability and also picked a hotel for my stay in the city online. Via this blog, I will share all my wonderful experiences of the trip to Delhi, so stay tuned!

Moreover, I had traveled a couple of times with this airline and hence, I trust this brand with its high quality onboard services and amenities.

My flight departed the Terminal 4 of the Chennai Airport at 9.05 pm and reached the Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi at 11.55 pm. The flight landed at T3 of the IGIA.

World-Class Amenities at Indira Gandhi International Airport

I had been a couple of times to the New Delhi Airport but every time I visit this airport, I am truly happy with the level of airport amenities and services offered here. There are a host of eating joints and cafes inside the airport. Moreover, there are ample washrooms, seating area, smoking room, ATMs and modern high performance conveyer belt for fast baggage check-in.

I had a sip of coffee at one of the cafes at the airport and as I went out at the arrivals area, the airport shuttle offered by my hotel was already waiting to drive me to my accommodation in the city which I had pre-booked online.

Jaipur To Udaipur – A Small But Memorable Trip For Me

Being creative in the world of fashion is highly important. When it comes to binging in creativity then there are many options one can consider, such as travelling to new places, checking out the work of others, etc. This is the reason why I always love attending fashion shows in other cities. My last visit to Udaipur was one such trip, and I was there to attend a fashion show. Even though the place where I live that is Jaipur isn’t very far or different from Udaipur, but travelling is always fun.

For small distance journey, railway is the best option in India. This is the reason why I started looking for trains from Jaipur to Udaipur. After searching a little, I decided to book my berth in Jaipur Udaipur City Superfast Special (09721). From Jaipur to Udaipur, the rail distance is 428 kms, and this train takes 7 hours to complete the journey. Finally the day arrived and I was at the railway junction of Jaipur. The train arrived exactly on time, i.e. at 06:15 am.

Beginning my journey from Jaipur to Udaipur & hotel stay!

AC chair car category of trains is quite apt for small journeys, and hence I didn’t feel any kind of discomfort during those 7 hours. Since it was superfast train, therefore hardly any significant amount of delay was made. By the time the train arrived at the Udaipur station, it was 13:30 hours. Now, it was the time for me to head towards the hotel that I had booked. I was a little tired after the journey, and fortunately the hotel was selected perfectly by me.

After booking my train tickets, I did some good amount of planning regarding the selection of hotel in Udaipur. Quite obviously, there are numerous online travel portals available these days and hence looking into the hotel options wasn’t difficult. I had some Udaipur hotels in mind, such as The Ananta Udaipur, Hotel Ashish Palace, Treebo Vatika Inn, and Hotel Gorbandh Udaipur.

Udaipur hotels

Udaipur hotels

During the selection process, I checked out the reviews, the location, and the tariffs associated with the hotels mentioned above. After careful consideration, I went ahead with Hotel Gorbandh Udaipur. Located close to City Center, this hotel is quite a good option for the shopaholics.

Shopping in Udaipur is always fun

Once I reached the hotel, I had some good food and a powerful nap. In the evening, it was time for some shopping. The hotel manager had suggested me two wonderful places for shopping, and they were-

Shilpgram Udaipur– It was only 3 km away from the city center, and if you have penchant for handicraft items and rural arts then it is a must check out place for you. I loved almost everything about its rustic ambience, and the art works were the true representation of Rajasthani culture.

The Celebration Mall– Located at Bhuwana, this modern mall offered me a good reason to spend my money on clothes, fashion accessories, and footwear as well. I also watched a movie in one of the multiplexes. At the end of the day, I had a big smile on my face.
